On May 15, the music department hosted an afternoon Studio Showcase, aiming to celebrate Lawrenceville’s singers and the work they have done throughout the year. The Showcase was filled with students in Lawrenceville’s Private Music Instruction program, with performers ranging from III to V Formers. The performance was informal and relied heavily on the singers’ courage and skill, both of which were displayed beautifully. Each performer and audience member listened attentively to every singer and clapped up a storm after each song. Piano Teacher Craig Renoe flawlessly accompanied the performers for each of their songs with little practice beforehand. The songs themselves ranged from heartfelt musical theater pieces to powerful scores and dreamily-articulated jazzy-pop tracks, such as “Let You Break My Heart Again” sung by Chiedza Mupita ’24. Although this intimate concert was held during one of the busiest weeks at Lawrenceville, the singers performed their songs incredibly, which was undoubtedly a measure of their dedication to music.
